We rented a car for the day with Cat & George. It was a beautiful drive along the water and we saw some pretty nice homes.
We stopped at the Cruzan Rum Distillery and Denny was in heaven trying to figure out what kind of rum he wanted. He couldn't figure it out so he got one of each and ended up carrying out 2 six packs of a variety of rum. That's our Denny! For those who are curious what he bought: Velvet Cinnamon Rum, Estate Diamond (aged 5 yrs), Estate Dark Rum (aged 5 yrs), Estate White Rum (aged 5 yrs), Estate Diamond (aged 5 yrs), Aged Rum (aged 5 yrs), Black Dark Rum, Spiced Rum (aged 9 yrs), Red Cherry Rum, Vanilla, Rum, Citrus Rum, Key Lime Rum. For a dessert we had the Velvet Cinnamon Rum (like Baileys) with the Black Dark Rum (has a molasses flavor) - YUM!

We went and explored the rain forest. It had a 150 foot dam and mahogany trees, yellow cedar and Tibet trees. We also stopped at the Whim Greathouse. It is a restored greathouse from the late 1700's which houses a museum and gift shop. At the top of the rain forest there was a bar called Mt. Pellier Domino Club. For a dollar each and $2 for a beer, we saw two huge pigs drink non-alcohol beer. This was very entertaining and fun to watch as you will see in the video below. We asked the bar owner if she taught them this, she told us pigs are very smart and when they were little they watched the older ones drink beer, plus they put beer on their food so they will like the taste. They don't have many teeth, so they use their back jaw to crush the can. I should have shown the can when the pig was finished, you couldn't get it flatter and he just spits it out onto the ground. Pretty amazing!

We toured St. George Village Botanical Garden. The botanical gardens were beautiful. Laura's garden contained all red and white flowering plants. There was also an area of just herbs. Then we saw the fruit trees. These trees have interesting flowers that are pollinated by bats. The cannonball tree from northern South America is named for the heavy fruit that is spherical and the size of a cannonball. The sausage tree from Africa has long hanging fruits that resemble giant sausages. We saw where all the bats were and it was creepy as you will see in the video below. They had some pretty beautiful orchids. The Orchid House is a display for over 20,000 species and numerous hybrids and different varieties; it is one of the worlds largest. The collection of Palms was very interesting, this included date palms, thatch palms, oil palms and carnauba wax palms. We really enjoyed the botanical gardens, some of the areas smelled so good!
We are waiting for a weather window to leave for Jost Van Dyke, BVI (probably tomorrow - Thursday).
After ten years of planning a trip around the world, we have given up our life on land to head to bluer pastures with the hopes of staying young as long as possible. Our mission is to have fun while moving about the earth. [...]When we finally return to dry land for good, we hope to have seen most of the worlds shore line and experienced things that can only be experienced at 5 knots Of course if we find a place we like and stay there for an extended time, that's ok too.
We have two boys and two grandson's and several friends and family of all ages. Our hope is that those we know will decide to spend some time with us. Life is enjoyed most when you share it with those your closest to.
