Wild Life

Becky/86 degrees, beautiful!
We took the dinghy into Spanish Town and I had some ice cream. Nice town and good ice cream! Then we saw Fort Point, Big Trunk Bay, Devil's Bay and The Baths. Our favorite was The Baths. This is a collection of massive granite boulders as large as 40 foot in diameter. The beach has white sand and there are secret rock pools and caves. This is what we learned about the rocks: the cavernous surroundings are as a result of molten rock seeping up into the existing volcanic rock layers. The molten rock did not reach the surface, it cooled slowly and formed the hard crystalline granite layer. Further shrinkage and cracking formed blocks, which were exposed when the softer volcanic rock above eroded away. Weathering rounded the corners of the boulders to what they are today.
We have to The Baths & caves with DW & Drew 14 years ago and I can remember them having so much fun exploring the caves and swimming in the baths - good memories!
The wild life here is amazing. We saw yesterday, while enjoying cocktails on s/v Picaro, a family of deer on the beach. A mom, dad and baby, very cute. We have also seen several very large turtles. Also there are an abundance of fish, they jump all around us and swim under the boat. We saw a pretty large barracuda & tarpin. You are not permitted to fish in the BVI's and I think the fish come up to you and wink at you and say "ha, can't catch me!"
Life is good on Kokomo!
