We have been moving pretty fast along the Leeward Islands. Another boat that we met s/v Freya has also been moving fast. This is the boat Denny yelled at for anchoring too close to us. We are now seeing them in each of the anchorages we stop at. We had them over for happy hour. JR, the owner of the boat, Steve, the brother-in-law who is helping JR for 3 months move his boat, and Kevin, he is a young mid 20’s catching rides as he can. When they cam over, Kevin brought with him two palms. He asked me if I wanted to learn how to make a bird out of a palm. “Yes”! So he showed me and it turned out pretty nice. Then he showed me a basket he made and asked if I wanted it. “Of course, how much do you want for it?” He said he usually trades food for them. I told him I had just the thing and would visit him the next day. So I made some sourdough bread in the morning and brought it over to him in the afternoon just out of the oven piping hot. The next day he told us he really enjoyed the bread. Great trade for me!
