On our day off, we decided to visit Gunboat Island. On this island there were 19 high school students and 5 chaperons from the state of Vermont. They were on a mission for two weeks helping paint and do other service work for one of the islands in Carti. We asked one of the chaperons if they would want to go sailing for an hour. They didn't hesitate and said, "yes!" We divided them up in two groups of 12. They each got a turn to drive and experience sailing. On Monday they will be returning to Woodstock Union H.S. in Woodstock, VT.
We had some great rail weight - all smiles!
On Gunboat Island is a family of 10, one of the young Kuna's (Justin) came along for the ride and tried out steering
When we got back to the beach, they made a pyramid
We were given a “thank-you” card that each person signed. You could really feel their appreciation and gratitude! Makes us smile!
This was a great group of young kids. Some of them had never been on a sailboat before and some of them had sailed. You could really see in the way they handled the helm the ones that had sailed before. We really had a great time, as did our guests!
Life is good on Kokomo!
