Windy days, windy nights?

15 January 2009 | Vero Beach, Fl
Thursday, January 15, 2009

Well we finally have the wind generator up and running but it didn't do a lot - there wasn't a lot of wind so we didn't generate much power even with the 10-knot winds. After putting the bimini partially up and seeing where the back support strut in the back goes through it, I finally got up the nerve to put a hole in the bimini. Then we managed to get the strut undone (of course the wind decided to pick up as we were working on it) - only breaking one bolt (replaceable), wriggle the strut through it and get the bimini back up. So we now have sun protection in the cockpit again. It's amazing how slowly things go when we're working on them - or how fast the day goes by - so much so that it seems like the day is over right after it starts!

Made salmon burgers and salad for dinner and we read a little and watched some TV. The only station we can pick up is ABC and there's not much on it so we usually watch the news and then read some before retiring.

By the way the water heater energy exchange unit/heat dissipater won't work with our hot water tank and there isn't an adapter to be found for it. Out side of buying a new water heater to fit it, it won't work... so we'll have to mail the part back to KISS and get the other one that expends the heat into the air (the engine compartment - it looks like). We also ordered the chip for our chart plotter for the lower part of the Bahamas and Central America so we'll be waiting for more parts for another few days as well as working on the macerator.
