Scene from the boatyard

Well while we're in Oriental (at Deatons) waiting for parts to come in, we've plenty to work on. After the electrician took a look at our system we found out that some previous owner had switched to gel cells but not switched the charging mechanisms to the special requirements of gel cells. They charge at a lower voltage and the higher voltage can dry them out. So we ordered a new battery charger since ours decided to retire - a Charles, that should be here from California Monday. The other one is over 20 years old so we shouldn't complain. We're also putting in a new voltage regulator hopefully the right kind for our gel-cells. Costs are definitely increasing with replacement anchors and davits last month and battery chargers/voltage regulators the beginning of this month with a stay in the boat yard thrown in. It looks like we may need to replace the chart plotter too The electronics guy here took a look and couldn't figure it out either other than maybe the antenna is on the fritz or the connection between the program and the antenna became corrupt.

Walked to the grocery store (hey gotta have beer and pop right) and West Marine right next door to the grocery store (very convenient). We went to Brantley's Village Restaurant again for dinner - good food at good prices. Wayne got the clam dinner (tender and plentiful) and I got a burger ($2.95!!!) and onion rings ($2.50) with lemon meringue pie that was very rich and custardy - different from what I'm used to but very good. Once again I really enjoyed the evening walk. One passerby commented that it was nice to see couples out walking, still holding hands. I agree I love seeing older couples out holding hands. There's something comforting about seeing older couples that have been together for decades that still cherish the others touch.
