Just a quick update since we are on battery only tonight and need to conserve juice. After spending 6 days in New Bern, NC working on the boat, we finally were able to depart today at 1330 and make it as far as Oriental, NC. Delayed by a 1 1/2 days due to the wind blowing the tide out Saturday night so the keel was in the mud and could not leave the marina. Spent last night watching the Packers get beat (AAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!). Got up this morning at 0630 to 16 degrees and ice on the water. Had to break up the ice for 1/2 mile with the dinghy and a boat hook before we could depart. To make a long story short, we are finally on our way and plan to be truly headed south tomorrow. The weather is colder than expected for the next week and going to be that way until we get farther south, but spirits are high as we are finally on our way. More in a day or so.
