Nikki departed on time this morning and called a little bit ago to say she is on the ground in VT and the weather is beautiful. It is warm here, but windy, and a little rain this morning. But until she left, the weather was perfect. She has great travel karma and wherever she goes, life is good (sort of her motto). Anyway, it was tough to see her go but we will reunite in June in the northeast.
I have decided to pull out of KW tomorrow. The winds are supposed to shift to the south, albeit light, and I can get a jump on getting to Marathon. I am planning to go as far as Little Torch Key tomorrow, and maybe Bahia Honda Key if I am lucky. That will make for a short day sailing on to Marathon on Tuesday. If the weather forecast is close to correct, I suspect I may hole up there until about Thursday. Nothing nasty forecasted, just easterly winds that won't make for good sailing. Unlike the trip south, I have more time to pick and choose when to head out and hope to do more sailing on the outside than motoring in the ICW, which really isn't much help until you get to Biscayne Bay south of Miami.
I plan to just sail for a while with St. Augustine as the next destination. It is the oldest city in the US and I hear it is a beautiful city to tour around with great architecture. If any of you have any pointers or knowledge of "must see" places there, I would love to hear them.
I am off shortly to visit with some new friends I met a couple of weeks ago - Jim and Roberta. I think we are going for cocktails at Captain Harvey Run Aground's Grub and Pub. You might remember that is the first place Nikki and I went to the evening we arrived in KW. How appropriate to start and finish the stay here. We arrived almost exactly 2 months ago on March 1. Wow, time is sure flying by.
