I volunteered to write the update this afternoon, mostly so that I could control the pictures being sent...seems there's a vendetta against me for yesterday's shot of Randy napping! So, we stayed in Cape May today and spent the day exploring the town...went on a tourist's trolley ride that was a great way to get a quick view of everything and did some walking around and biking. Cape May is one of the oldest seaside resort towns in the country and now averages about 30,000 visitors a day during the season. I think we got here in the nick of time!....there are lots of great Victorian homes that mostly inns now....a nice stretch of beach and a pedestrian shopping area with restaurants...and don't forget the requisite salt water taffy/fudge place and the t-shirt/souvenir shops...no ocean tourist town would be complete without them! We had a fun lunch at Ugly Mug's (recommended by Dave Kneis, thanks Dave!) complete with a salty old waitress donning several tattoos and big attitude! We got back to the boat a bit ago and I went for a REALLY quick dip in Cape May Canal, where we are anchored....somehow 68 degrees sounds a lot warmer than it feels..Randy mostly thinks I have a screw loose for jumping in and I beginning to think he's right. Time to grab showers and then headed back into town to meet Tom and Renee Poulsen (friends of Randy) for dinner at the Lobster House...here's hoping there's a filet on the menu for Randy! Tomorrow, we'll make a pretty short day of it (32 miles) to Atlantic City and plan to hook up with another couple, Rob and Kathy Petrini from beautiful Proctor, Vermont!
Send good winning karma for the casinos!!!
