I have come full circle again in a way, as up the river about 20 miles is New Bern. That is where I had left Kristinly last October to return to VT until January, which is when I returned to NC to restart this odyssey.

Today was more comfortable in terms of weather, but fog caused a late start (0800 instead of the planned 0630) and a headwind and opposing tide at the end of the day so I did not make it as far as I had hoped - 10 miles short of Beaufort, NC, I could have pushed it but would have arrived in the dark and just wasn't in the mood to do that as the channels and buoyage system in that area is confusing enough in the daylight. This spot seemed to be the last good anchorage between here and Beaufort,

I have been looking for opportunities to go outside and make better time, but I don't think it will be Beaufort - high winds and rough seas by the time I get there. Perhaps when I get to Cape Fear, which it looks like it will be Saturday at the earliest.

Some of you have been asking about the boys (dogs). I haven't written about them because they are still in VT with Nikki. She has been diligently working at getting them house trained (they don't seem to be very bright, or are head strong, or both) as well as dealing with all of the veterinarian stuff puppies need to go through in their first year, including getting neutered. That last piece just happened last week, but Nikki reports they are still humping each other. I told her I think it may take a while for all of that testosterone to work its way out of their bodies. I know what I was thinking about for 23 1/2 hours a day when I was a teenager, and I am sure they are too. Sorry, no pics today.
