Leaving for the Bahamas at 0300 Thursday
11 February 2009
Randy
The boat's Autumn Borne, Kirian, and Kristinly will head out tomorrow at 0300 for the Bahamas. We met tonight to review weather forecasts and navigation charts. At a minimum, we will cross the Gulf Stream to the western most island of Bimini. If we catch a break, we plan to continue on across the Great Bahama Bank to the Berry Islands and ultimately Nassau on New Providence. A trip of 169 nm, we expect it to take 24 - 30 hours. This change of plans came from a suggestion by Jerry of Kumbaya, whom I met on the way south in the Carolinas. I am very excited about this part of the adventure!
I will write when I can (when I can find an Internet connection). You can write email to me, as well as call me at my Skype phone number. You will have to leave a message if I am unavailable (more than likely, this will be the case) and I will call you back when I can. My cell phone will not be working while I am over there. Not hearing from me will not be bad news. Assume all is well unless you hear otherwise. I plan to be back in Florida no later than April 25, which is when Nikki flies back to VT (after arriving in Nassau to catch up to me February 21).
I hope all is well with everyone!
