Hi Everyone,
Sorry no updates of late since I wrote from St. Michaels, MD on 10 June. Nikki arrived on the 18th as planned. As many of you have noted, when she returns to the boat, I seem to be a bit preoccupied and write less. True, true ... Also, our friends Tim, Mark, and Jess from Burlington came for a visit, arriving Saturday (20th) and left yesterday (23rd). It rained all day Saturday, so we hung around here for the day and took in some of the sights. Sailed across the Bay back to St. Michaels on Sunday with the intent of catching the second day of the antique boat show, but it ended just about the time we arrived. Oh well, it was a nice day and the sail across was great, it was when we returned to Annapolis Monday. Those guys left yesterday, and Nikki and I spent the day on some boat projects, but also went ashore to do a little shopping and lunch on the deck at a place called Pussers.
We had intended to leave tomorrow, but the main engine starting problems that I thought were fixed after repairs in Deltaville returned and even though I spent $1300 and a week waiting for parts Deltaville, the real problem appears to be fuel siphoning out of the engine back into the fuel tank overnight. That is good news, since the fix isn't something like a complete overhaul. I found a guy here who walked me through how to diagnose and resolve the problem so I can at least start the engine. He is going to try to get to us tomorrow to permanently correct the problem, which could be the primary fuel filter, or the fuel lift pump - details for all of you sailors and motor geeks. The valves on the engine also need to be adjusted. If all goes well, we will depart Annapolis on Friday. Weather and tide permitting, we will make a run down the Delaware Bay and be in Cape
May, NJ sometime Sunday. Will update more as we get closer to that time.
Planning to do some laundry and provisioning today and catch the sailboat racers tonight, as they will be finishing the race as the pass by us. Hopefully the winds will hold up so there will be an exciting finish.
