Randy - stormy, heavy rain, winds 20-25 E-ESE, gusting to 35
Last night lived up to its billing, weather-wise. I was up the better part of the night when the wind would wake me, keeping watch to ensure I wasn’t dragging anchor, or nobody else dragging down on me. I didn’t, and I did not see anyone else do it either. Lots of rain, at times very heavy, and winds sustained at 20 – 25 kts, mostly E-ESE. At the height of it all, I saw gusts of 35 kts. The short fetch all around provided good protection from waves, so wave action wasn’t a problem. More than anything, I lost some beauty sleep.
The forecast for the passage to GA is still indicating that departing before Friday morning is unadvisable, so I will hang out here until then. Assuming a Friday departure, I should be in Charleston Saturday. After getting some rest Saturday night, I plan to go back outside mid, to late Sunday and sail to St. Mary’s River just north of the FL border, arriving there later in the day on Monday. It will probably take two days to tear everything down on the boat to prep it for storage and haul out Wednesday, or possibly Thursday. Assuming all that goes as planned, I will fly home Thursday, 27 October, or worst case scenario, on Friday, 28 October, and be home in time for NIKKI’S BIRTHDAY on the 29th!!!
