Fantastic sailing day!
26 February 2012 | Angelfish Creek - Biscayne Bay, FL
Randy - 80, winds E 10-20, then sustained 20-25, gusting 30
We left Miami at 0900, sailed 30 nm south down Biscayne Bay in 4 1/2 hrs averaging 6.7 kts on a beam reach - a fabulous day of sailing. Just a little rain and no big storms. Got some sun and just relaxed all day. It doesn't get much better than this. As Nikki said, "It's as thought the tradewinds are in the upper Keys!
We stopped here today as we have some sites we want to hit for some snorkeling around John Pennekamp tomorrow. We will probably spend tomorrow night on the west side of Islamorada as the winds are forecast to continue to be brisk out of the E before backing NE. Plan to be in Boot Key Tuesday, Key West Wednesday, and then out to Dry Tortugas Thursday/Friday. It looks like Nikki may be driving back to Ft Lauderdale from somewhere in the lower Keys for her return flight to VT Tuesday the 6th in order to maximize the fun quotient. As Nicki of Hello Texas wrote to us today, "... a party follows Kristinly anywhere." So true, so true ... :-)
