Problema!

early morning mild--best time of day
Sorry! We have not yet figured out how to post multiple images in one post. This is a work in progress. If we can't figure it out we might give up the blog idea and return to regular email "chronicles."

El Salvador

30 degrees
While in the Miami airport for six hours, experiencing new depths of freezing cold air conditioning, we dreamed of Salvadoran heat. Our dreams have come true and it’s a balmy 30 degrees—in the shade.

We’re in the midst of putting the boat back in shape and this may take a week or so, if all goes well. Bob says everything seems to be functioning well. We’ve been staying in the marina’s air-conditioned hotel, but this luxury will end tomorrow when we move on to the boat.

There are other cruisers here, some we have met in previous years. Most are Canadians from BC and most are heading for the Panama Canal and the Caribbean. Those with pan-Pacific plans are fewer.

These blog entries will generally be short but will include photos we hope you enjoy.

Getting Ready!

Grey skies, rain, cool temperatures
There are duffel bags and "stuff" everywhere--pre-departure disorganization! It's easy enough to decide on the clothes to take (shorts and t-shirts) but difficult to ensure that we're taking all the other things we'll need such as essential boat parts! It was one thing to provision the boat from home, when we first began this adventure, but it's a little more complicated when we have to take things down with us. We expect to be paying a fair price for overweight baggage, especially since the airlines are allowing only one bag free.

We fly from Victoria to Seattle and on to Miami. We leave Seattle at 10pm, having arrived there 12 hours earlier, then fly through the night to Miami and arrive at 6 am. Six hours to wait in Miami before we finally board the plane for San Salvador, a pretty short flight, comparatively speaking.

We'll let you know what El Salvador is like once we get there. Hot and humid is a certainty!
