Nana Jauna boatyard
06 June 2017 | boat will be here until February 2018
hot and humid
Thursday 6th – As arranged we hauled out at the Nana Jauna complex.
They use a trailer-type arrangement, and do not have a travel lift so it took several hours on get us sorted on the underwater trailer- with both James and the yard manager Edger in the water to check the keel and rudders etc.
We had met and arranged for Carlos to be our welder and undertake the keel maintenance, and replacement of one of our fuel tanks. A good sign - he was there on haulout day to see the boat for the 1st time. He inspected her and was impressed with her build quality
Friday 7th –the work started at 8am with Carlos and his crew of guys.
Late June and early July I left James to oversee the workers - all very interesting as he speaks no Spanish and they speak no English - thankfully Carlos speaks good English and visit to supervise the work most days.
Its hot and humid. Thankfully the marina complex is in a beautiful setting and we have a large pool to unwind and cool off in every afternoon.
The welding work is taking a long time - but hey - that's the joys of owning a 30 year steel boat. We need to ensure she is totally mechanically sound for our atlantic crossing to return to England next season.
