We left Nassau in late January after transferring the orphanage supplies to the mail boat. Most of the islands get a mail/freight boat in once a week. Islanders fax their grocery lists to stores in Nassau who pack it up and deliver to the appropriate boat for shipment. We spent several days in Allens Cay which is an Iguana habitate island. Scooter could not go ashore even. It has been nice to go back to some of the anchorages we were in last season. This year we spent a lot of time in Farmers Cay and attended the All Age School Fair one Saturday. We met new friends, Vicki & Ed on sv "BOTO". Vicki and I spent one day getting conch and fishing the reefs. Even found a local who cleaned them for us. We went on to George Town for some of the 51st annual Boaters Regatta-harbor boat racing, softball playoff between islander team (some were pros) and boater team, Texas Holdem, cookouts and Beach Church on Sunday. We went on to Long Island then Rum Cay. It is inhabited with a nice marina; some construction going on but mostly fishing for income. We are now heading back north toward Nassau. This week we are in Wardwick Wells Exuma Sea Park waiting out weather with high winds; wait I thought we liked wind.

After spending a couple months in Marathon Florida on a mooring ball, we left last Tuesday about 2:00PM crossing the Gulf Stream to South Riding Rock arriving about 6:00AM. We continued on across the banks spending the night anchored near the NorthWest Channel Light. Our next night was Chub Cay anchorage then on to Nasau where we checked in with customs & immigration.
We are staying in a marina in the harbor bay across from Atlantis resort. While here Bruce recalculated the auto pilot range which had caused problems on the last leg of our crossing. Tomorrow we are expecting a new control box for the Windlass electric anchor equipment.
We had a musical sundowner party last night with s/v Interlude (Tom & Kathy), s/v Sojurn (rob {guitar} and mary) and s/v Blessed Spirit (Corning {squeeze box} and Tita). We look forward to making new friends all along the way. Cheers!

Dirk & Nancy from s/v Tybee Time. We met in Marathon and now traveling with Ellie & Jim from s/v FinniRish. We are still stuck here in Lauderdale waiting on weather and getting anxious. Glad to hear you both made a nice passage and are now enjoying the Bahamas once again. Im bookmarking you so we can keep up.

Tuesday, November 3, we traveled down the Intercostal WaterWay or what folks refur to as "the inside" from Jax, FL to St Augustine. What a shock: The tide changed by seven feet at the rate of 7 Knots (our boat averages 6 Knots when underway and the wind was out of the North at 20knots average. Out of the twenty or so boats anchored none pointed the same direction at any given time so you needed a 360 degree space based on the length of boat plus how much chain you have out from the anchor. It was wild. But thanks to our excellent purchase of a Buegel German made anchor we held firm.
Today, Wed., we traveled to Daytona down the intercostal to find a calm anchorage near the Sea Breeze bridge with only two foot tide current that is less than the wind direction. Poor ole Scooter even got to go ashore and hit every bush he could fing at Captain Jacks resort (great food by the way). Heading for Titusville or Cape Canaveral where we might catch a rocket or shuttle launch.

I've had the enjoyment of 5 quick blasts from the Navy -I was turning to port when they obviously wanted me to turn to starboard -no arguements -bigger boat. Have a great season.

We left Brunswick Saturday a.m. as planned. It takes about two hours to get thru the river past St Simon & Jekyll to the Atlantic. Met two freighters and a big shrimp boat getting out. Arrived at Cumberland Island inlet about 3:00PM. Just as we were making our turn leaving the Atlantic a submarine started appearing with three military police escorts zooming around in the water. We were stunned; but decided to give them water.
Cumerbland Island is a National Seashore Park. You can only arrive by boat. There is a 45 minute people ferry from St Marys GA for campers or just day trippers. Sand dunes and forest with wild horses. Stayed here two nights with Navy boats guarding us. Upon leaving to go back to the Atlantic we followed another sub out the inlet which is several miles long.
At Jacksonville, FL we went inside to the Intercoastal Waterway and will motor this south for a few days as the Atlantic waves are building this week.

What a neat town is Brunswick. The South is live and well with great people and wonderful food. Brunswick Landing Marina has worked for us; great facilities; helpful and friendly people. Killer, the resident Chihuahua, had pups this summer. She stays fit out running a golf cart. Even Scooter backed up when Killer was around.
We will miss our Bible Study Fellowship group. They pitched in and our V-Berth is full of supplies for the Old Bight Mission orphanage on Cat Island, Bahamas.
We will make our way down the Florida coast to Marathon again this year. Looking forward to seeing old boating friends. Then after the holidays head to the Bahamas. We will try to take you along when we have internet. Cheers, Dawn & Bruce

05/19/2009, Green Turtle, Abaco Bahamas
Last Friday we left Marsh Harbor headed north by way of the Whale Channel. You leave the Sea of Abaco (20 feet deep) go into the Atlantic (2000 plus deep) and back into the Sea of Abaco. Can be very rough trip but we had a good day.
We are in Green Turtle Cay this week filling up on banana bread and waiting for a good weather window. We will be going to Brunswick Georgia (our summer spot for this year). We will be at sea for about three days if we go as planned.
Scooter has been busy star fish hunting along the beach.
