All the wildlife you could hope for

Wallabies, kangaroos, wombats and even white eagles - Narawntapu National Park on the North Coast is really a little gem. You head down narrow roads and lanes until you come to a small visitor centre and campsite, just behind the beach. There are few people here but lots of wildlife. Behind the shore lies a large lagoon, and the combination of sea life, lagoon and bush give the wildlife a head start. Lack of big roads probably helps too. The amount of road kill in Tasmania is incredible. Lots of dead Tasmanian Devils, wombats and wallabies litter the highways. We walked through to the lagoon from where you can see loads of birds then on to a high lookout which afforded tremendous views of the surrounding countryside. By the time we returned dusk was approaching and the noise of disturbed wildlife from the brush was quite scary.
