This is our new winter neighborhood!
Life is a journey not a destination.
Our Southward meandering has been a journey with a vague destination in mind. Well we have arrived at the winter over destination and it is Jacksonville FL. Several reasons for the choice--1st some good cruising friends stayed here and recommended it, 2nd it is in Florida -but does not count as Florida for insurance rates -same as home! (saves us $2,000) 3rd it's is on the way for our trip further south in the spring and finely -we just ran out of time to make it across the Okeechobee water way with all the bridge hassles (were 53 ft the bridge is 49ft clearance)and water depth issues we draw 5'6" the depth is variable around 5-6'. I We will come down in February for a week to visit and maybe do a short intracoastal trip up & down the East Coast -if the weather is promised to be good. In the Spring we will sail (meander again) down to the Keys and meet friends in Key West end of June or July and finally travel up to Clearwater Beach and leave Lady for the Hurricane Season and a safe dock. We'll hopefully come down a few times in the later Fall and Winter to do some west coast cruising for a few week long trips. Stay tuned - but I'll be seeing you soon in person--
