This has not been ideal weather. High winds and mostly cloudy skies have prevented us from doing much snorkeling. However, when the sun shines, Mary is the first to suggest snorkeling and we've had some very nice drifts along the reefs. We've been swimming every day in the warm, but somewhat choppy waters. I suppose I could find more protected anchorages but then we wouldn't have wind for the turbines...and not enough power for water production, battery recharging, etc.
Today we sailed to the most popular and sociable anchorage in the San Blas. It's called "The Hot Tub". I'm reserving my judgment for a day or two. Our two previous days at West Holandes Cays were spent in splendid seclusion. I had hoped to catch some fish there but lost two nice lures and leaders when solid strikes broke the line. I admit to not being a good fisherman but I am learning the hard (expensive) way.
The weather outlook for the next several days again calls for high winds and seas. Currently in the anchorage the winds are blowing steadily at 20 knots, with higher velocities expected later tonight...accompanied by rain squalls. Nevertheless, the stars are now shining more brightly than anywhere else and we are happy to be here.
