A Trying Day
09 September 2017
9:30pm Saturday 9th September 2017 ( UTC+6 ) A little anxious as to what to expect from the forecast of around 30 knots I was up at 3am to put a couple of reefs in the main. Pretty well on time at in she came at 7am with a sharp shower and started to overpower the jib. From then on much of the day was spent trying to get some decent distance in the lulls only to regret this a short time later as the squalls became more frequent and the seas steeper with waves slapping and bashing the hull. Eventually settled on about 25% of the jib and the mainsail stowed but still keeping the average speed above 6 knots. Down below it has been rather uncomfortable but quite liveable and despite cups of coffee levitating and landing on the lee, consumption has remained undiminished.
