20 September 2017
8:50pm Wednesday 20th September 2017 ( UTC+4 ) Not long passed the halfway mark between Cape Leeuwin and Cape Aguhlas and coincidentally just on the Vernal Equinox where day and night share the twenty four hours equally between them. It seems to have taken an age to get to this point, what with the frequent calms and odd headwinds but for the last two days we have been really cruising along. Still reluctant to try out the Big A as we are making 6 1/2 to 7 1/2 knots with the jib and either one or two reefs in the main all with the minimum of fuss. The sixteen to 18 knots quartering breeze has the wind generator just humming along so the desalinator has been engaged since 3:30pm this afternoon. The filter was dismantled but as it was quite clean it was replaced without disturbing any of the wee beasties which may be lurking harmlessly therein. The quality of the water appears to be improving so now there is no salty tang or maybe I'm just getting used to it. The promise of another seven days like the last two will be grate fully accepted.
