Temptation Resisted
26 September 2017
7:30pm Tuesday 26th September 2017 (UTC+3 ) Only by the firmest resolve and despite my short term memory I managed not to hoist the main today. Each time the temptation arrived I dialled up my average speed - steady at 6.3 knots - and looked at the dead straight course on the plotter and said ( to myself ) " What's the rush ". Of course with the wind nearly astern and the vagaries of the wind vane in these light conditions it probably wouldn't add anything to the days log but the thought lingered... You may have been wondering how I arrived at my time zones. Simple enough you say - blocks of 15 degrees of longitude for each hour with the transition 7 1/2 degrees either side of this. But here's the catch. I'm filling in the log book four days to a page so the change in the time zone has to coincide with a new page. So there.
