Trailer Maintenance

Went to the boat in the morning to tackle the bow roller on the trailer. The bow roller was new when I purchased the boat, but has become worn due to repeated launchings and retrievals and because it is set too low and can't be raised any higher without bringing in a welder. Like seemingly all boat projects, what I intended to be a quick job devolved into a quagmire. The cotter pin holding the assembly together was impossible to remove and I wound up breaking the pin up into pieces, except the piece that was holding the assembly together. In the process, the boat exacted it's revenge for not replacing the roller sooner and for not cruising and adventuring enough. The price this time, a few bloody fingers. My father-in-law took pity on me when he had a free moment and evidently applied the right tool and had the pin free in a few moments.
