The Point
26 July 2014
Dana Point is a historic harbor. Tall ships landed there to trade for hides. It was a surfing destination before the breakwater and marina were installed. Now it is a first class anchorage that I would recommend to any cruising sailor, large or small. And there were several anchored with me. Within a short walk from the anchorage is an overlook where you can see the power and immensity of the sea as it comes from the open Pacific and crashes onto the point. At sunset and into dusk it is even more dramatic.
