Family First Night At Anchor on Oz

by Keith, nice, more swell than we would like
After a lot of work and more than a little trepidation, we blew up the dinghy, woke up the kids from afternoon nap, and headed out. It got lumpy when we rounded the point outside Catch 22 Bay and it was starting to get late, so we went into the anchorage I've been wanting to try overlooking the Tetas. This photo is our third try at a sandy beach landing after exploring the anchorage by dinghy. It started off pretty calm, but the wind built as it became dark and we could hear it whining in the rigging. Not a comforting sound the first night anchored at sea in a new to you sailboat with thr family aboard. I let out extra scope of chain and mostly stayed in the cabin with the family. It was an increasingly rolly night, but the anchor held fine and, as usual, I slept better on the boat than onshore. Took it all up pretty easily the next morning with the new windlass and we were off before long.
