As we decided to leave Miami at around 1 AM, we still had to get into deep water, which is a little nerve racking at night. So by the time we hit deep water it was 2 AM. Since there were some newer sailors on the boat, and some big thunderstorms and some big, short chop, we decided to take the night watch in pairs, and do two, 3 hour watches. I took first "sleep." Which never works well as captain. I really did not sleep at all; waiting for the inevitable call for help, which never came.

So as my watch started, I had been up for over 24 hours, with only 4 hours sleep the night before. So it goes when you have to fly east across 3 time zones.

Thunder Storms in the North

05/06/2010, Fort Luderdale to Key Largo

This was a two day trip from Fort Lauderdale to Key Largo, where TLB will rest for a few months before we take her to the Bahamas. We has a bit of excitement getting her out of Fort Lauderdale; strong current and winds, plus my first time at the helm, made for a very stressful 1.5 hours. Trying to hold the boat in the middle of a channel, waiting for a bridge, was not fun. Unfortunately, we were all to intense to get a good photos of going whole Fort Lauderdale part of the trip.
