On the road again
14 April 2010 | Church Creek, SC
John and Cheryl
Cheryl's Notes:
We left Beaufort, SC this morning at 9:00 am. We had to wait for the first opening of the Sister's Island Bridge. We motored up to Church Creek where we had anchored on the way south. Our day went the same as our previous days. It was calm in the morning when we left, but by noon the wind started to pick up and was on our nose for the rest of the trip. We hit another very skinny spot at low tide. I can see why some cruisers only move a few miles each day. They move only with high water. I am really glad that the tide changes get smaller the farther north we go. It was 8 feet in Georgia, by Charleston it will be 6 feet and just north of Georgetown, SC it will be down to 4 feet.
We anchored by 4:15 pm, and the wind blew most of the night.
John's Notes:
Not exactly an eventful day. Any day you don't hit bottom has got to be a good day though. We are getting pretty good at finding anchorages. All we have to do is look at our chart plotter and find where we anchored before on the way down.
