The Blue Angels

15 April 2010 | Charleston, SC
John and Cheryl
Cheryl's Notes:

We planned a short day today. We have decided to spend a day in Charleston. We skipped by here on the way down, because of our boat repair delay and bad weather. We motored north and had a little excitement as we left Wappoo Creek. The Blue Angels are in Charleston for an air show this weekend and they passed right overhead in formation. They have two days of practice and then the show is Saturday and Sunday.

We docked and fueled up the boat, then headed off for long, hot showers. Then, with camera in hand we headed for historic downtown Charleston. We took more pictures of the Blue Angels flying overhead than we did of historic homes. I was slightly disappointed in the historic shopping area. I thought that there would be more independent and specialty shops, but instead found all of the chain stores that I can find at the Mall of America.

John's Notes:

Blue Angles, how f***ing kewl. My neck has a permanent kink in it from looking up all day. I was able to get a few good pictures and a little video. We did take almost a hundred pictures today. Gotta love digital cameras. You can take as many pictures as you want just to get that one great shot. Well, maybe our great shot is not exactly an Ansel Adams moment but not all that bad.

We have had an opportunity to see some amazing things this winter. How often do you get to see a Shuttle launch and the Blue Angles in a two week period? We keep thinking that nothing much is going to happen between here and home, but, who knows..........................
