Hanging around Hampton

Cheryl's Notes:
We have decided to be lazy and hang around in Hampton for a few more days. We are in no hurry to move forward, as we really don't have a timetable to complete our trip to the Chesapeake. We want to really explore everywhere thoroughly, and not just fast forward through. Today we wandered around downtown Hampton. They are showing the same signs of other cities. Several businesses that were thriving last time we visited are empty. We did notice a few new businesses are getting ready to open for the summer season.
We are going to stay a few more days and get our laundry done. It is a quick dinghy ride to Sunset Creek and then a four block walk to the Food Lion and Laundromat. I also want to explore the Phoebus area of Hampton that is on the other side of the river. We might use the loaner bikes from the public docks to explore a little farther out. A big thanks to Kate and her staff (Steve) at the Hampton Public Docks. They are great and go out of their way to help you. We met Steve a few years ago when he came down to the docks to talk with us about our travels.
John's Notes:
Happy birthday to Leprechaun. I took delivery of you brand spanking new 12 years ago today. You have been a good and faithful boat, especially the last three years serving as our home.
Spent a leisurely day roaming Hampton. Found a Food Lion only about a quarter of a mile from a dingy landing on Sunset Creek. Also passed a Laundromat on the way so may do laundry sometime this week before we leave here.
Seems like almost every place that we visit is better than we remember it a couple of years ago. Still looking forward to finding lots of new places.
When we landed at the City Marina dingy dock this morning we found a boat from England that we had met a couple of years ago in Wardrick Wells in the Exumas. They are joining the ARC to Bermuda on their way back to England. Good luck to them and safe sailing.
