Before I left, I was asked by many people if I thought that I was prepared for this type of journey. Unlike John, I haven't been sailing my whole life. Was I deluding myself that I could do this?

So far this trip has been 90% boredom (although the scenery is breathtaking), and 10% activity. We have faced some really nasty weather on this lake, but up to now we have faced no wind at all. I am confident that I will learn a new skill every day.

I have had to face the men on the docks that think that I belong in the galley, but not handling lines and sails. My reply is to let them know that I have already helped brace the heat exchanger on the engine, lash all of the mast supports on deck and each night I plan our route for the next day on our navigation software. I think that these men do not know what a real woman is capable of.
