Today the tropical wave that contains the low pressure cell we have been watching reached us. Actually, it reached us last night. With it came wave after wave of rain. Most of the time it was not heavy but it still added up to a lot of wet. What was worse was the very, very dark clouds that passed by us to the north. Contained in those dark, dark clouds was lots of lightning. Some of the lightning strikes were within a ½ mile of us. With the lightning came its thunder and with each strike the thunder just rolled on and on, sometime for up to 10 seconds or so. It was very loud and a bit awe inspiring.

What blew my mind was four sailboats emerged, one at a time, out of the area of the black clouds and entered our anchorage. They must have sailed from either Guadeloupe or The Saints which are just to the north of us. Why anyone would chose to sail with this type of weather is just incomprehensible to me. Go figure.

With all of the rain, we just snuggled down on Leu Cat and it looks like we will do the same tomorrow as more rain is heading our way.

Tropical Storm Gaston, the second low pressure cell we have been watching is now Hurricane Gaston with continuous winds of 73 mph. However, as the picture attached to this blog shows, it is in the middle of the North Atlantic and staying well to the north of us. It is about 1000 nm away and will present no threat to us in the Lessor Antilles. Whew!
