Year 10 Day 19 Taking It Easy

09 February 2017 | Chatham Bay, Union Island
Dave/Mostly Sunny
After getting a bit bushed yesterday climbing up a steep, steep goat's path to the top of the ridge overlooking Chatham Bay and then slipping and sliding the rutty, 4-wheel drive "road" that was still wet from the morning's rain, we decided to just relax today and take it easy. Thus, it felt like we were on a vacation in paradise. The day was mostly sunny and with the bullets of wind that creased the bay throughout the day, we just relaxed, played cards and listened to music. I fell into the water in the afternoon to enjoy the wonderful water and swam around Leu Cat.

I also did a few minor boat projects like transferring 25 gallons of diesel into the starboard fuel tanks. I had bought this fuel while in Grenada and wanted to top off the fuel tank which I was not able to do before we had parked the boat on the land this last November. I also did a little polishing of the brightwork just to say that I worked today. It really was not much but it made the icy Margarita I made that much more enjoyable as I gently swung in the hammock that is strung under our shade tarp in the front of the boat. Ahhh, life is good!

Mary Margaret was no slouch today either as she chopped, diced and sautéed away the vegetables and spices that she used to make a batch of her killer spaghetti sauce. She will let it steep away through the night and tomorrow so it will be just perfect for dinner tomorrow night.

Not hearing from our freight forwarding company in Miami regarding the status of our new washing machine, I decided to get in touch with them. I discovered that they did not realize that they had taken possession of our new washer. After sending to them the UPS tracking receipt that showed that they had signed for and received the washer on January 27th, they agreed that they had it and that it would be placed on board the Cargo ship tomorrow. It should arrive in Sint. Maarten on the 20th of this month.

Thus, Mary Margaret and I now must decide how long we wish to idle our time away here in the Grenadines before striking off for Sint Maarten. It should just be a two-day sail. We will discuss our options tomorrow and I will write about what we decide to do in tomorrow's blog. Until then, it is simply paradise being in Chatham Bay and on Leu Cat!
