Year 10 Day 46 A Second Tasting of Stew

10 March 2017 | Bobby's Marina, Philipsburg, SInt Maarten
Dave/Mostly Sunny

You know how when you eat something that is so good, you just have to come back for more and more. Well, that is how good the beef stew that Mary Margaret made yesterday is. It is so good that it is hard to stop eating it. In fact, it is so good, we decided to invite our German neighbors, Inge and Jorg, over for a tasting tonight. They will be leaving tomorrow for the BVIs and we wanted to get together one last time.

When they arrived, Inge brought a wonderful Thai soup she made. Later, she shared with us her secret ingredient was a dollop of foie gras. Go figure! I love foie gras but seldom do I have it because it is just not very good for one’s health. However, it melded so wonderfully in Inge’s soup that I just had to go back for seconds.

Next, we dove into a salad and Mary Margaret’s yummy beef stew. It was so good that I had to use pieces of sliced baguette to sop up every last morsel of sauce that the tender chunks of beef and veggies swam it. Oooooh, nirvana on a plate!

Mary Margaret then out did herself but serving blonde brownies laced with chocolate chips. OMG! Died and gone to heaven…

Once again, over good food we had a great time discussing world politics, books and travels with our new friends. Time just flew by, and so with our tummies full we had to say “good-night”!

While we thoroughly enjoyed our evening with Inge and Jorg, the day was not all eating and talking. In fact, it was hard slave labor. To bring Leu Cat up to snuff so it could be presentable to our friends, Mary Margaret scrubbed and swept inside while I washed and scrubbed outside. The results were a sparkling boat but two bushed sailors.

I was able to sneak in a couple of hours of respite by listening to the University of Michigan basketball game where U of M beat Purdue in overtime. Yea! Unfortunately, Michigan State University lost to the University of Minnesota. Thus, tomorrow U of M will be playing U of M in the semifinals of the conference championship series. I think I can 100% guarantee that U of M will win!
