Year 10 Day 134 Opposing Results

Once again, the two weather models that I use to analyze the weather patterns across the North Atlantic are being contrary. This morning, as I look at the results of each model for June 20th, I am seeing the European model showing a large high pressure celling siting over the center of the North Atlantic Ocean while the NOAA model results show the presence of a shallow low pressure cell to the southwest of the Azores. Grrr.
Opposing model results indicate that the upper atmosphere is just too complex and unstable to yield similar results when different models are applied to the date. It is a warning sign that says: "Danger, we cannot predict with any certainty what the weather is going to be."

In addition to telling me that the atmosphere is very unstable and unreliable, the two differing results yield significant different wind patterns. However, despite the different wind patterns, neither one yields a way to sail across the North Atlantic to the Azores as the winds are mostly contrary. Sigh.

Thus, we sit here in Sint Maarten, as each day goes by, still wondering what our fate is regarding following Plan A (sailing across the Atlantic) or Plan B (forsaking the Atlantic and returning to Grenada). Only time will tell...
