Marina Rubicon

27 October 2017 | Marina Rubicon, Lanzarote, Canary Islands

We were hoping to find a nice beach to anchor in on this barren volcanic 40 mile long island but the winds were just to strong and anchorages hard to find. So back into a very nice marina with good facilities. We found a sailmaker to fix our damaged sail, we re-rigged the tack line for the spinnaker and shortened the assembly for the Code Zero so it will furl better. Back to sea tomorrow afternoon to finish the trip to Las Palmas Gran Canaria. So one more night and what looks like a mix of reaching and running. Hopefully, we can shake out the asymmetrical spinnaker or Assym to see what problems it might have.
This Marina is famous for training sailing teams for round the world races as well as all other classes as the winds are very strong to light all in a week. One trip around the islands tests a boats abilities and the skills of the crew to manage it.
