Teambuilding Sail
Philip
09/30/2009

The team from Nycomed arrived early on a chilly, windy Wednesday. The weather didn't deter our intrepid sailors, and after a brief orientation aboard the schooner Liberty, the team assigned roles to each other. Each role would be essential in the completion of the team objective which was a circumnavigation of Governors Island.

The crew, got underway, and handed over to the team at the entrance to the Morris Canal. They were on their own now. The navigators, used the charts of New York harbor, and the Eldridge tide and current tables, to give the helmsman a course to steer, while the deck crew figured out how to raise sail and keep a look out for ferries, tugs and other shipping traffic.

With the brisk wind, and favorable current, the team easily completed their objective, and had a great lunch. Well done Nycomed.

Acceptability is most important to me.

I think I have become an honorary "family" member.

I cannot express my gratitude enough.

We sail each day and relish each moment separately. It is a continual vacation.

Always, be safe.

The Frogman.

Cruises aplenty. Sunsets phenomenal. Moonlit waters to the entrance of the harbor. Only absence of music & a tender embrace from a lovely female. Our stay is short, but life is wonderful. I await patiently.

Schooner Liberty Sails to Port Jefferson
Philip
08/31/2009, Port Jeff, Long Island

We have been looking forward to returning to Port Jeff since we left about two weeks ago. We left at about 1145, after fueling up and the fuel dock, and proceeded up the East River, under the Brooklyn bridge, past the United Nations building, and reached Hell Gate at Slack water. Soon we were in the Sound, and the wind that had been on our bow the whole time started to back, allowing us just enough angle to raise some sail. With the motor on, and wind in our sails we easily managed 6 knots or better. The wind continued to strengthen, and back, and when we pasted Huntington Bay, and were able to bear off the wind slightly, we were able to really do some great sailing. Sailing at 6.5kts, with an awesome sunset behind us, we enjoyed great company, great food, and arrived in Port Jeff around 2015.

We are going to be in Port Jeff, sailing daily from the Harborfront park twice a day. Call Sharon if you want to enjoy a truly remarkable mini-vacation. 973-309-1881 or Liberty Schooner website
