We celebrated Mother's day in fine style. Kathy's family flew in from all corners of the country to enjoy a family reunion with us. What fun we had! The rain that had fallen non stop the week before gave way to a fogging morning on the day of the cruise. It soon burnt off, and with a light breeze, the schooner Liberty spread her canvas, and enjoyed a wonderful afternoon sailing with some wonderful people.

It was so much fun to reconnect with old friends for our New Year's harbor tour today. It would have been nice to have temperatures higher than freezing but we were refreshed by the cloudless, sunny skies. All the kids who joined us for the day opted to stay down below out of the cold, under the watchful eyes of some adults who needed to defrost in the galley. This New Year's tour is held annually by our good friend Shelly and we were thrilled to be asked to host this year's trip as the ninth annual New Year's harbor tour. We had about 25 people on-board today and really loved spending time with our old sailing buddies like Charlie and Fran, Owen, Dominique, Blaine and Rachel and so many others that are dear to us. On Sunday, we had the privilege of hosting the distribution of ashes for the friends and family of Colet. This was the third time the Liberty Schooner has been called upon to facilitate the wishes of a family whose loved one has passed away.

The atmosphere aboard was warm, and comforting, and everybody thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. It seems we have been blessed with the ability of being able to match the mood aboard with the event, so that although it was a time of grieving, there was also optimism, and celebration of a wonderful person.

The crew performed well, including Sarah, a new crew member for a day, and a big thanks to Captain Bill who drove up all the way just for this sail, and brought Mizzen for the kids.

I have never had such amazingly positive feedback about any corporate event in which I have participated as I have about our cruise on the Liberty Schooner. Thanks to you and to Phillip (and your family & crew) for a great evening - we all had a blast and will surely remember (and recommend) the Liberty Schooner for future events - personal and corporate.
