The Push for Warmth -- 10/2/2016

Fellow travelers
The New Jersey coast passage can be intimidating. But the reward upon arrival at Cape May is palpable -- warmth! That was motivation enough for us after 4 days of Nor'easter.
Hunkered behind Sandy Hook we gave the forecast another look -- was that moderating window still open? Yes? -- let's go. We were not alone. A dozen other boats made the push.
There's a heightened sense of fellowship offshore. You realize you've been seeing those boats in the distance for hours, sailing the same speed, headed in the same direction, probably just cruising couples like us, probably headed south like us. You see them on AIS and know they can see you too. Will someone pick up the mic and break the ice? On this day someone did and we were all the richer for it.
