Cold and Wet Sailing for 2 Days

30 September 2012 | Kennebunkport
Turns out it was pretty easy to cast off lines. Our intention was to catch the predicted Northerly for a brisk ride down the coast and put up with the drizzle and rain on Saturday. The weather did not disappoint and we had a fast reach to Sebasco Harbor where we spent our first night. Sebasco offered protection from the North wind ( and waves that follow). For those of you not familiar with sailing terminology, a reach is when the wind blows from the side of the boat, generally offering a fast and comfortable ride. Sunday morning we left Sebasco Harbor under gray and overcast skies. It rained hard at times and we could feel the cold even under our foul weather gear. We are now tied up at Chicks Marina for the next 2 nights as we wait out a predicted southwest blow. We are headed out to dinner with a very good friend who lives here.
