Wonderful sailing trip to Solomons Island

05 May 2015
Jill / sunny and upper 70's
What a wonderful couple of days! It's always good to make sure the boat is equipped and ready for a long trip, so we decided to spend a night at anchor in a nearby creek. As soon as we got into the Little Choptank River, we decided to head across the bay to Solomons Island.

Sunday was an absolutely gorgeous sunny and warm day and the Chesapeake Bay was flat calm. We enjoyed a very pleasant motor sail across the bay, anchored in our favorite cove, and enjoyed the afternoon and evening walking around town and going for a dinghy ride around the creeks.

Yesterday we motor sailed out the Patuxent River and SAILED up the bay and in the Little Choptank River, at times sailing between 5.9 kts to 7.4 kts!

It was a wonderful trip and a great way to start the sailing season!!
