We're now in Florida!!

Jill / sunny and humid days in the 80's
Our past couple of days have been rather short travel days so we could explore some of the areas around our scenic anchorages in Georgia and Florida. Yay!
On Monday, we motor sailed to the northern end of Cumberland Island in GA and anchored in Brickhill Creek. We dinghied to shore and enjoyed a rather long walk through some rustic trails. When we saw an armadillo, we got quiet so we wouldn't scare him off. Evidently he didn't hear us because he just walked across the trail as if we weren't even there. A little later we stopped when we saw 3 wild horses heading our way on the same trail. We waited until they walked off the trail into the woods before moving on. That was pretty cool! While looking for the path to get back to our dinghy, we came across a couple of hunters who told us the trails were closed to hikers since there was a boar hunt on the island. Oops! Oh well, we had a nice long walk thru rustic and tropical trails, and we saw an armadillo and wild horses. Great day!
On Tuesday, as we motor sailed across Cumberland Sound, the sun seemed to get brighter and several dolphins surfaced to welcome us into Florida! Yay!! We picked up a mooring ball at Fernandina Harbor Marina and walked around Amelia Island. On one of our dinghy rides to shore, we saw our first sea turtle. That was so cool!! Of course by the time I turned on our camera, he went back down in the water. Oh well, maybe next time. It was our 32nd wedding anniversary, so it was extra special that we crossed into Florida, saw dolphins and a sea turtle, and enjoyed fresh shrimp and a toast with Bud and Jen. What a great anniversary!!
Yesterday morning, we motor sailed in light winds (again) and tied up to the free dock on Sisters Creek in Jacksonville FL. Last evening the four boats that were at the dock enjoyed an impromptu gathering aboard s/v SeaQuest with appetizers and delicious jambalaya, followed by playing games in the air conditioned cabin of m/v Kozy Kadey. Nice way to end a wonderful day!
It's pretty cool when we heard crackling in the hulls from the little shrimp that are munching away. We're looking forward to a little breeze to hopefully take away some of the humidity and no-see-ums, but we're not complaining. This morning we'll all enjoy shrimp omelets aboard s/v Links before we leave for our anchorage tonight at Pine Island. Life is good!
