BB's Crab Back

After a restful day on the boat, we decided to splurge and take the bus to The Carenage district and go to BB's Crab Back for a taste of "Grenadian" food.
The Crab Back is owned by a Brian Benjamin, a Grenadian born chef who owned a successful West Indian restaurant in England and returned to Grenada 4 years ago.
Oprah must get around. This is the second restaurant we have been too, that she has also been a patron.
Steve ordered up two appetizers, a dish sporting the local land crab and salt fish, two island favorites which the ingredients look very unappetizing (but he's been dying to try them) along with that old favorite "curried goat", a Grenadian style pork ribs and a risotto dish... all very good and very "spicy". In Grenada they say the food is "Spicy" but they don't mean "hot". Spicy to them means very flavorful, with nutmeg or cloves or their blend of curry.
We had a wonderful evening packed with a taste explosion all the while Brian entertained us with his stories and his enthusiasm for cooking. We all picked his brain for cooking ideas and advise. Unfortunately, we didn't try his conch fritters. We would have if Steve had read the rave review Ann gave them in her latest book, "The Spice Neckless" but he had not read that far.
