Trip to Panama
18 May 2011 | Linton, Panama
The wind has died in this part of the Caribbean and the trades are not expected to fill in any time soon. With a little help from some land effect wind for the first ¼ of the trip we motored the staring leg of our journey to Bocas del Toro. The first stop was Linton a small village where a group of sailors have stopped and moved ashore. Marg was invited to play dominos with the local ex-pat women, which happens every Thursday afternoon. The games take place at Sarah and Anne’s home/plans to become a restaurant someday (a little walk up the road after beaching your dinghy). Marg was a little disappointed that there was more serious playing than yakking. The cruiser bar here sells beer for 75 cents each, you don’t see that in Canada. It was a bit of a shock to see our first car since leaving Cartagena five months ago. We took an interesting dingy ride through a mangrove swamp Panama marina (above photo). Boa Constrictor snakes are said to hang from the over head branches.
