We've only seen one bus and it seems to be full of school children. There is no public transportation to speak of, although I've been told there are taxis. While Steve and I were walking to the library, a motorbike stopped to ask if we would like a taxi ride.. not sure where he was going to seat us??
The streets are littered with motorbikes and they are for hire and today we decided to rent a bike ($20US=40,000 pesos) and travel the one principle coastal road, which goes around the circumference of the island.
Providencia is a small island and we've been told, it takes just 30-40 minutes to drive in a loop around the whole island.. but we are taking it easy today and have decided to just plot along at a snails pace, stopping for photo ops and places to eat. We found that by the end of the day, we were quite ready to get off the bike.
