Horn Harbor Marina - Preparations for Cruise to Ocracoke, NC
Well hello everyone. Liquid Therapy has been sleeping but is awake now.
Tomorrow we head south for Ocracoke for the Ocrafolk Festival. Today, well last night, we started to provision, pack clothes for a 14 day cruise to the Outer Banks of NC. We love Ocracoke and have never made it to the Ocrafolk Festival. We've made the Blackbeard Festival and that was a blast. So, we are sure Ocrafolk will be a great festival as well.
It takes 4 days for us to get to Ocracoke. Our intentions are our home marina Horn Harbor to Atlantic Yacht Basin in Chesapeake tomorrow. Then to Coinjock Monday. Then to Manteo Tuesday and then to Ocracoke. That's Our hope if the weather holds as forecasted. That seldom is the case.
So, today we loaded the Outback with everything from an ice maker to clothes and headed to the boat. Liquid Therapy had been in dry dock until yesterday. So, now L.T has new bottom paint, a new rub rail, the swim platform is now firmly attached to the transom, replaced stuffing box hose clamps and the transducer has new fairing block without sea worms.
So, today we took L.T out of the slip to get fuel an pump out. We are a bit rusty with our close quarter handling of L.T. Hum. "All lines off?" Yep, until whops I get pulled sideways leaving the slip. Someone forgot to take off the forward spring line. Like I said we are a bit rusty.
We got to the fuel dock without further incident. 60 gallons of diesel into the starboard tank and 80 into the port tank, 3.9 gallons of gasoline for our portable generator, and a pump out of the holding tank. We are ready.
Refrigerator, Ice maker and freezer are all stocked and we are ready to make way tomorrow morning.
Today's picture is a sign I took a few months back in the Bahamas clearly showing what to do in a snow emergency in Hope Town, Elbow Cay, Abacos, Bahamas....
