DAY 123 OF OUR GREAT ADVENTURE

We are in Hope Town Marina in Hope Town, Elbow Key, Abaco, Bahamas. How different and only 5 miles away is this island. I will post more pictures I took yesterday. And today we are headed out with another couple on a gold cart exploration of the Elbow Key.
And yes it is very picturesque.
But the highlight of this entire trip for me was to go up into the Elbow Reef Lighthouse with the Light Keeper and watch him, uncover the fresnel lens, fire up the kerosine lamp and wind the 600lb weight that rotates the beam. It was just Susan, me and him. I shot video the entire time but have not edited yet. It will be on youtube. The lighthouse was built in 1864 and has been kerosine fired and mechanically wound every two hours during the night since then. This was just amazing to watch the preheat of the light and then to be there INSIDE the lens when it was lit.
Check the photo gallery "ELBOW REEF LIGHTHOUSE" for some of the lighthouse pictures. I will be working on the youtube video tonight.
