Catching up for 2015

25 December 2015 | Sisters Creek
SKP warm and breezy
November 19, 2015. Left Bloomington today and headed down I-69. Stopped in Murfreesboro KY at Cabelas to shop. Then headed on South to Atlanta to meet with Billy Cradic from Enola but arrived too late. Proceeded to Valdosta for motel and meal. Ate at Crystal River Seafood Restuarant. Great food.

November 20, 2015. Left Valdosta Georgia for Charlotte storage arrived 3 PM and started preparing the boat.

Opened and started cleaning the boat. Had to fog for bugs for the first time. Started washing and stowing all the stuff we brought. Added a new solar panel to the array and another battery to the house bank. Making plans for CPAP that runs all night. New power has helped everything on the boat. Lots of parties in the hut and meals in town. Smitty and the Tidal Wave band played at Lakeview and then at the Elks in Engelwood for Shirley's Birthday.

Went to see Richard Ratts new house. Impressive job rebuilding this one too. Still no sign of LD.

December 11, 2015. Launched and tied to dock. Checkered all systems for run ability and water tightness and all is well. Christmas tree trimming in the hut this evening with BYOM barbecue.

December 12, 2015. Christmas party at Joe and Ronnies in N Ft Myers. Chili every way you can think and oodles of decorations.

December 13, 2015. Went to Church at Shirley's church and then West Marine for a quick shopping fix. Back to the yard and put sails on Living Well and Gratitude.

December 14, 2015 finished rigging sails and then left the dock at CHBS and moved through the canals to the locks. Waiting for high tide to get into the Myaaka River at the locks and found that the locks were damaged by an incoming catamaran and would not function. Waited in the locks with a fishing boat who had no lights so I sold him a head lamp. Repairman came and fixed the locks and we went to the river to anchor. With the South winds the 1.4' predicted tide was over the top board, guessing around 2.4' above MLW. Shallowest we saw was 6.2 and over 7' twice. Gratitude had gone through earlier and alerted us to the high water. Thank You. J

December 15, 2015 Left from anchor in Myaaka River with favorable winds and tides and sailed outside to Ft Myers, Matansas Pass and grabbed a ball. Saw and talked to Nadia and Bob on Paradise Bound. Went ashore to register and eat at Beached Whale with Van and Lauren. Manager came by and we had to complain about them not having fried oysters anymore.

December 16, 2015 fixed Vans radar and then spent the day on Fort Myers beach with a terrific supper at Parrot Bay restaurant by Salty Sams

December 17, 2015 left Ft Myers Matansas pass headed for Indian River. Motor sailed to Rabbit Key and anchored for the night.

December 18, 2015. Left before sun-rise and motored to Boot Key at Marathon. No mooring balls available so we went to Sisters Creek and anchored with stern tied to mangroves to sit out the blow. Winds to 35 mph overnight and most of the 19th. Birthday dinner on Gratitude with Schwieberts and Prestons.

More to come.
