HAPPY EASTER!!! This is the second Easter we have spent in Ft. Myers .
We left Marathon on Thursday . The weather was turning from windy to nice but our mood was not so good since our beloved Hoosiers lost to Syracuse on Thur. night, as we started out to trek North . We had a very good stay in Marathon even though it was short.
We had Sunday breakfast at the American Legion and were joined by Carolin and Lloyd on " Amelia Rose" from Charlotte Harbor boat Yard. Steve did get the new solar panel installed and on Monday we had a very good day in Key West with Scott and Tina from "Sangaris" and Mary Jo and Mike from "Serenity". We had a lot of fun with them even though the restaurant lost our food order twice and we waited, and waited. But we were having such a good time we didn't mind and the manager appreciated our attitude so much he gave us lunch at half price and free key lime pie and coffee. We were at Red Fish/Blue Fish and we will go back there again because the food is good. We also had the return bus cancel it's trip so we had to wait for another one, but it was still a great day.
On another day we all took a cab and went to Sparky's for fresh peel and eat shrimp. This was good too. Both "Sangaris" and "Serenity" left on Wed. to head North to Miami, so Thursday was a good time for us to leave also.
We spent one night outside Everglades city and now we are at Ft. Myers
Beach in the Matanzas pass mooring field. We arrived in time to take real showers and then walk to the Beached Whale for dinner...They have the BEST fried oysters. It is still Spring Break here, so lots of crazy fun and crazy people to watch. We will leave here on Monday and head to Cayo Costa State Park and start stripping the sails, then across Charlotte Harbor, into the Mayaka River and through the locks and on to the Boat Yard. It will probably take a week to wrap everything up and then start back to Indiana.
