back in buisness

09 August 2012
Oil cooler is installed and all is back to normal. Condensation is becoming an issue; we have discovered that the hull is sweating as a result of the warm humid air inside the boat and the 47° water temperature. We will need to thin out the inventory one more time and create some space for air to move around.
Very strange readings on the depth sounder that at first were a bit unnerving. In an area where we were reading 400 ft it suddenly climbed to 40 then 30 to 27. We are thinking that salt and fresh water layers might cause it.

Our first whale sighting was at 9 am, Belugas. The hunting of the Beluga whale was banned in 1979. Since the 1980’s the population has stabilized at 1,100 individuals. The Beluga is considered a threatened species. A dark fin, maybe a Minke Whale, and then another. As we get closer to Tadoussac whales were everywhere we looked. Seals galore and white Belugas breaking the surface.
